FRAMES

York Road Opticians carries hundreds of frames to fit our patients’ needs, from budget frames to top designers. We also carry occupational eyewear and sports goggles.

LENS MATERIALS

Glass or Plastic
Glass lenses are still available, but are heavy and breakable. Plastic lenses are lighter in weight and can be coated for ultraviolet (UV) and glare protection.

High-Index Lenses
Thinner and more lightweight, these are a comfortable choice, especially for strong prescriptions. An anti-reflective coating is recommended.

Polycarbonate Lenses
A good choice for athletes, workers and children, polycarbonate lenses are thin and lightweight. They have UV protection, a scratch-resistant coating and excellent resistance to impact.

SPECIAL CORRECTIONS

Bifocal and Trifocal Lenses
Correct near and far vision in a single lens, and are reasonably priced. However, they do show visible lines in the lenses.

Progressive Lenses
These “no-line” lenses provide full-range vision correction. The benefits are natural vision with a youthful look.

Tinting
Tints are available in a variety of colors, gradients and intensity for a stylish look and protection against light sensitivity.

Transition Lenses

These lenses quickly darken in sunlight and clear indoors, so you don’t have to switch between glasses and sunglasses. However, they do not fully darken inside automobiles.

Polarized Lenses

Protect from reflected glare, UV rays and eye fatigue. Polarized lenses are ideal for water and snow sports, and for driving in the sun.

Anti-Reflective Treatment
Decreases annoying reflections and halos around lights, a safety benefit for those who drive at night. Also reduces eye strain for those who work with bright computer screens or under fluorescent lights.

DriveWear

A polarized Transition lens that senses and reacts to varying light conditions both outside and behind the windshield of

a car.
